Before your appointment
- Hair length: about 3–5 mm for sugaring, around 5 mm for wax. Stop shaving 2–3 weeks before.
- Exfoliate: gently 1–2 days before – not on the day itself.
- No cream: on the day, please don’t apply lotion, oil or deodorant to the area.
- No sun: no sunbathing or tanning beds for 24 hours before.
- Comfortable clothes: loose-fitting, ideally cotton.
- Let me know if you take retinoids or recently had a chemical peel or laser treatment.
The first 24–48 hours after
Mild redness or small bumps are normal and usually settle within a few hours. To help your skin recover:
- no sauna, steam room or hot bath
- no intense exercise – sweat and friction irritate the skin
- no sunbathing or tanning beds
- no perfumed products; no deodorant for 24 hours after underarms
- wear loose clothing and don’t scratch
Preventing ingrown hairs
From day three, exfoliate gently two to three times a week with an exfoliating glove or a mild body scrub, and moisturise daily. Most importantly: don’t shave between appointments, or the hair cycle starts all over again.
How often should I come?
Every 4–5 weeks is ideal. With regular treatments hair grows back more evenly and finer, and each session becomes more comfortable.
When to reschedule
- sunburn, wounds or inflammation in the area
- new tattoos or piercings in the area
- fever or acute illness
If you are pregnant, diabetic or have varicose veins or a skin condition, please check with your doctor first.
